Although the major tournaments and their stars (International & National level) get most of the publicity, the great bulk of Duplicate Bridge is played in local clubs - Bridge clubs, Clubs like Madras & Mathunga Gymkhana, Social clubs-TNSC, Jubilee club,  Clubs in Industry like Lakshmi Group of mills, BHEL, TVS, HCL, PHD-GPI, Railways, DSM, Tolani, Nalco, Kalpakkam,  & very many other clubs,  The winners in these events at the club level deserve recognition of their skill, since many of them may not play outside their home town
Ranking Point Register
Bridge in India proposes to maintain a Register of Ranking from among those participating in T.N.S.C. and Madras Gymkhana Pairs events (open)  starting from Tuesday 26th April 06. This is for the benefit of those who rarely or never step out of Chennai but would like to know their skill level.
Bridge in India offers in each direction of Mitchell movement, 2 Ranks for upto 10 Tables, 3 for 15, 4 for upto 20, 5 for 25, 6 for 30 etc
(Scramble Mitchell - Original NS & EW positions will get ranking as described earlier). In Howell movement double for each position is given.

We would be happy if this invites more entries.
Bridge in India states that this scheme is only for its own purpose and that it has no relevance to any other scheme.  This ranking has no place in any official tournament but it is purely personal & for our Bridge in India use only.

No prizes are offered by us but a Bridge lover has offered 4 prizes on  yearly Ranking of events upto 31-03-2007.

What is the benefit of comparing MP & IMP in Pairs?
You get to know of players' attitude - their nature of bidding and play and you can plan your strategy accordingly in either event in future.
A player , 12 yrs back, suggested to his captain sitting out a player stating he would not try for OT etc and suggested another player of better MP skill. This was in a T/4 swiss league final round. Opponents were IMP type -did all correctly and his team lost qualification. He later said his choice of player was wrong
