In the present context of Tamil Nadu Bridge, it is heartening and encouraging to see Mrs Aparajitha Iyer making her Debut on 24^th October 2002, as a Tournament Director in this tournament. After Mrs Bimal Sicca, this is first in the history of Indian Bridge , to my knowledge, that a woman has joined the ranks of Directorship. We, Bridge in India, wish her all success.

Mr S.Ramachandran of Chennai has with Mr Madhukar as his partner, won the pairs event in N-S direction. He has proved that he should have been representing TamilNadu in TN-Sri Lanka match.

minus 2 (-2) for teams SL’B’ and TN”A’ for sitting in the same direction.
It is to be noted that SL pair have come to a new country and an unfamiliar environment in an air conditioned basement hall. Still they knew the direction of N-S and E-W. But it is said and confirmed by the concerned SL player, that the confident assertion by the TN pair who have played in the same building for months, to sit in the other direction was accepted by the SL pair. The result is MINUS 2 (-2) to each Team awarded by Director . The ruling is correct legally since director should have been called before sitting. But will anyone call TD before the match begins esp by a guest on this point? Whither JUSTICE?
We only hope this –2 does not spoil the chances of SL’B’ in the final reckoning.
